So, we're back from Pennsylvania, and none too soon either, as we missed the severe and deadly flooding in that state. My heart goes out to those who are suffering there.
We returned to NC on Monday and home on Tuesday, just in time to close on our new house---hooray!
We will not officially move all of our furniture out of storage in until July 8, but we are moving out of the rental cottage this week, taking things one carload at a time. We will spend the weekend painting and cleaning and buying rugs, mirrors, shower-curtain rods and whatnot.
The house, actually a log cabin, is great. We love it. It's smaller than our old house and has some minor issues but we love it. We love the location, the porch, the wood everywhere, the view...Did I mention we love it?
Here's an example of our view:
Below is a photo of our house from the hill behind it. As yet, there are no houses behind it, but someday there probably will be.
And here are some quick photos of the house under construction (it is finished now and all the debris has been removed since)...
Living, dining, kitchen area, above.
Our wraparound porch. It is covered on three sides!
So needless to say, my posting may continue to be sporadic until we actually move into the place next weekend. I hope you'll forgive.
I have more photos from closing day but haven't uploaded them from the camera yet. I hope to have them for you soon.
I did call yesterday about power, phone, and such and in doing so received some great news: I get DSL! Whoohoo! High speed Internet access at home again! Of course, that won't be installed until July 24, so bear with me until then as I continue to beg and borrow computer time.
Happy Independence Day!
